NORFOLK ASSOCIATION OF ARCHITECTS

REPORT OF THE MEETING ON MONDAY 13th NOVEMBER 2006

 

  1. PRESENT

There were eleven members present. 

 

2.     PRESIDENT’S DIARY

The President thanked David Ford and John Clark for the slide show exhibition at the Norwich Lecture.

 

  1. ACCOUNTS

Income and Expenditure schedules were circulated.

Sponsorship from Carters has been received for the 2005 Lecture.

 

4.      NEWSLETTER

Gabi Feingold will be meeting with Philip Durban and is hopeful to get the newsletter out before Christmas.

 

5.      NAA REPRESENTATIVES

David Thompson reported on a visit to Region by Richard Hastilow.

 

Next Year is Eastern Region’s 40th Anniversary and ideas are sought for ways of marking this occasion.

 

Paul Wilson distributed the ICE Programme

 

David Ford reported on the recent NAJCC meeting where it was proposed that the NAJCC should broaden their activities.  One way of doing this is to produce a Green Book.

 

David Thompson has stepped down as Chair of the Quality Panel and has been succeeded by David Merrick.

 

David Thompson reported that the Norfolk Society Awards panel could benefit from proper architectural support.  It was felt that this would suit a young architect.

 

  1. EXHIBITION AND POSTER

David Ford and John Clark have prepared a list of venues and they will contact these to see which ones could host a slide show as the exhibition boards are too heavy to transport.

 

7.      ARCHITECTURE IN SCHOOLS

This is being rested for the time being due to Norfolk County Council restructuring.

 


8.      CRAFTSMANSHIP AWARDS

An article has been circulated to all architects and two volunteers have come forward to help with the judging.  The nomination form will be revised to suggest contractors give careful consideration to what they are entering to ensure they are capable of winning an award.

 

9.      ANY OTHER BUSINESS

It was agreed that a topic for discussion at a Norwich and Norfolk Forum would be agreed at the next meeting and a note will be circulated to all architects stating what the topic is and the venue.  This will be followed up with an email bulletin and details of the next discussion.

 

10. DATE OF NEXT MEETING

The next meeting will be held on Monday 11h November at the offices of LSI Architects LLP at 4.30 pm.
