NORFOLK ASSOCIATION OF ARCHITECTS

REPORT OF THE MEETING ON MONDAY 8th NOVEMBER 2004

 

  1. PRESENT

There were eight members present.

 

  1. CORRESPONDENCE

The Guild of Architectural Ironmongers is still looking for an architect to sit on its judging panel.  The presentation of the awards will take place at the House of Commons.

 

  1. RIBA COUNCIL

It is proposed to cut the grant from Region to 50p per member from £1 per member. 

CPD currently organised by Tim Brading in Cambridge is being wound up and Regional Office will run future CPD events.

                                                                               

  1. ACCOUNTS

Chris Heuvel distributed a draft budget for 2005.  This was discussed and appropriate amendments will be made.

 

5.      NEWSLETTER

The Autumn edition has been distributed and feedback was very encouraging.

Philip Durban asked for help with preparing articles and the graphics.and the graphics.

 

6.      WEBSITE

It was agreed that the website should include a Calendar of Events and future Council Meeting dates.

 

  1. NAA REPRESENTATIVES

Hugh Tusting circulated a report from NFCI and discussion took place on a possible housing debate.

 

  1. NORWICH LECTURE

Thanks were given to Gavin McFarlane of Feilden+Mawson for preparing the poster.

 

  1. EXHIBITION

David Ford has received 23 submissions for the Exhibition and at an earlier meeting it was agreed that the NAA would make a charge of £50 per submission as opposed to exhibitors sponsoring the poster to the sum of £100.  David Ford is to draw up a list of venues for the exhibition and Hugh Tusting volunteered to continue moving the exhibition from place to place.

 

10. AGM 2005

The 2005 AGM will be held on Thursday 5th May at the King of Hearts and Jack Pringle has accepted an invitation to speak.

 

11. CRAFTSMANSHIP AWARDS

David Ford expressed his concern that nobody has come forward to chair the judging panel for next year’s awards.  It was agreed that it would be very disappointing if these Awards were to cease as Norfolk and Suffolk are the only counties that continue with the tradition.

 

12. DATE OF NEXT MEETING

The next meeting will be held on Monday 13th December 2004.
