REPORT OF THE MEETING
ON MONDAY 15th March 2004
There were eleven members present.
Minutes of the meeting dated 9th February
were accepted as a true record.
There were no matters arising.
David Thompson asked Council to sanction the use of RIBA headed paper for him to write to the RIBA on behalf of an LSI Architects employee.
The President had received correspondence regarding a Norfolk Resident seeking advise on what he considers to be the unsatisfactory work of an Architectural Technologist. The President is to refer him to the Client Advisory Service.
David Thompson has received an invitation for an architect to take part in a debate with Charles Clark on the Smith Report on Maths education. It was agreed that David Thompson should take part in the forum.
The President will be attending the City College
Awards Presentation on 25th March, the Structural
Engineers dinner on 26th March and the NAJCC dinner on
29th March where the Craftsmanship Awards will be
presented.
Chris Heuvel reported on a Regional Executive meeting.
Income and Expenditure Account schedules were distributed
Sponsorship by F J Charlcroft for the new look
newsletter has been secured.
Breckland Building Control is hosting an event on 23rd
April at Watton on the Part M changes.
The President had attended a meeting at Norwich City Council regarding the Market Place. EU funding will be lost if complete refurbishment does not take place but the match funding is still available.
The President is representing the NAA on the South
Norfolk District Council User Panel and has been invited to
attend site visits in this capacity.
Breckland Council are planning a Design Guide and
Roy Payne is to represent the NAA at a forthcoming forum.
There has been no more interest shown in the exhibition.
David Ford reported that he has now judged 39
entries (one had to be returned).
Arrangements for the AGM on Wednesday 12th
May are being made. Further information is to follow.
The 2003 AGM minutes have now been distributed to
all Norfolk RIBA members either by email or hard copy. Subscribers
will be sent the minutes together with a subscription renewal
with the next newsletter.
Roy Payne is to draft a letter to the ARB regarding the sum spent on posting minutes to its membership.
Richard Cox of EEDA would like to come to Norfolk to
speak to a group of smaller practices that feel they cannot
compete for larger jobs. The President is to contact
Richard Cox to ask what constitutes a small practice.
The next meeting will be held on Monday 19th
April.
