NORFOLK ASSOCIATION OF ARCHITECTS

REPORT OF THE MEETING ON MONDAY 10th JANUARY 2004

 

  1. PRESENT

There were nine members present.

 

  1. CORRESPONDENCE

Tony Cleary has written to the ABS representative explaining that the intended talk by Kevin McLoud has been postponed and that the NAA would be looking at other ways to raise funds for ABS.

 

  1. PRESIDENT’S DIARY

Tony Cleary will be attending the Property Dinner on 3rd February and the Forum Design Housing Awards on 20th January.

 

  1. RIBA COUNCIL

Nothing to report.

                                                                               

  1. ACCOUNTS

Income and Expenditure schedules were distributed.

 

6.      NEWSLETTER

This should be ready for distribution by the end of January.  Philip Durban would like to receive short news items for inclusion is future editions.

 

7.      CPD

CPD can now be recorded on line.

 

8.      WEBSITE

Members are sought to become part of the website/newsletter team.

 

  1. CRAFTSMANSHIP AWARDS

Application forms for this year’s awards have been sent out.  The judging panel is in place and the Builder’s Supper, at which the Awards will be presented, will be held on 4th April.

                                                                                         

10. AGM 2005 – 5th May

The format for this was discussed.  Jack Pringle, president of RIBA, will be the guest speaker and Chalcroft Construction will sponsor this event.  Further information will be posted on the website.  Food, drinks and music will follow the business of the NAA and the talk.  There are vacancies for Public Relations Officer, one architect and a subscriber representative

 

11. EXHIBITION AND POSTER

Drafts of the poster to accompany the exhibition were presented to the meeting.

 

12. ARCHITECTURE IN SCHOOLS

All six architects are lined up and will soon be making their first visits to schools.

 

13. ANY OTHER BUSINESS

Ideas were put forward for Architecture Week and these will be discussed in greater detail at the next meeting.

NAA and NFCI are continuing with arrangements for a Housing Debate.

Council discussed ways in which it could make a contribution towards helping the plight of people in Africa or Asia and it was agreed that it would be appropriate to organise something along the lines of raising money for an emergency housing system.  Members were asked to bring along ideas to the next meeting.

The next meeting will be held on Monday 7th February 2005.
