NORFOLK ASSOCIATION OF ARCHITECTS

REPORT OF MEETING ON MONDAY 10th DECEMBER 2007

 

1.    PRESENT

There were twelve members present

 

2.    NAA REPRESENTATIVES

NAA needs to be represented on the Quality Panel and the Greater Norwich Development Partnership.

 

3.    NORWICH LECTURE

David Chipperfield is unavailable for the 2008 Lecture.  An alternative speaker is being considered.

 

4.    WEDNESDAY ARCHITECTS FORUM

These need to be publicised more widely although attendance is reasonable.  The next WAF is on Wednesday 6th February and Housing for 21st Century East Anglia is the topic for discussion.

 

5.    CPD

Places on the Carpenter Oak seminar on 17th January can be booked on www.naaevents.co.uk 

 

6.    AGM 2008

This will be held on Thursday 15th May.  Sunand Prasad is unavailable to speak and an alternative speaker is being sought.

 

7.    CPD RESTRICTED BID

A bid for a projector and screen has been submitted.  A decision will be made in February.

 

8.    NEWS BLOG – www.naablog.co.uk       

The first article is now on the bog and membership participation is now needed to make this a success.

  

9.    EDP COLUMN

The first column will be in January and these will then be published on the Blog for discussion.

 

10. REGIONAL COUNCIL

Mike Innes reported on the last meeting.  ARB versus RIBA was discussed.  Alison Carr of ARB will be at the March meeting when Registration of Title and Function will be debated.  NAA council voted 6/2 for Registration.  Views of the Wednesday Architects Forum on Planning were put forward. The speaker at the Eastern Region Awards dinner was deemed inappropriate and the methodology of giving awards will be looked into.  Articles are welcomed for their broadsheet.

 

11. CRAFTSMANSHIP AWARDS

Nomination forms will be sent out by the end of the year.

 

12. Thanks were expressed to LSI Architects for the use of their meeting room each month together with refreshments.

 

13. The next meeting will be on Monday 14th January - 4.30 pm at the offices of LSI Architects.
