NORFOLK ASSOCIATION OF ARCHITECTS

REPORT OF THE MEETING ON MONDAY 13th DECEMBER 2004

 

  1. PRESENT

There were twelve members present.

 

  1. CORRESPONDENCE

David Thompson presented a draft of the City Centre Spatial Strategy.  NAA are to respond.

Correspondence has been received from the ABS expressing their disappointment that the NAA do not contribute.  NAA to draft a response to explain the current financial position and that advise that future profit making events could include a proportion contributed to the ABS.

 

  1. RIBA COUNCIL

The last minutes incorrectly stated the grant position from Region.  Region will continue to give £350 per branch and £1 per member. 

David Thompson gave an account of the RIBA/ARB debate, which was then discussed fully.  NAA are to respond.

                                                                               

  1. ACCOUNTS

The budget has been revised.

 

5.      NEWSLETTER

Next newsletter will be available late January/early February.  News articles are needed.

 

6.      WEBSITE

Thanks were extended to Charles Emberson for his work on the website.  It was agreed that there should be a panel of three additional members to assist with the website and newsletter.

 

  1. NAA REPRESENTATIVES

David Thompson reported on the Quality Panel.

 

  1. NORWICH LECTURE

The 2004 Norwich Lecture was a huge success.

 

  1. CRAFTSMANSHIP AWARDS

Nick Hills has agreed to Chair the judging panel.  A plumbing and lead work judge is needed for the specialist craft.

 

10. AGM 2005

The 2005 AGM will be held on Thursday 5th May at the King of Hearts and Jack Pringle has accepted an invitation to speak.

 

11. EXHIBITION

Thanks were given to David Ford for the excellent exhibition which made its debut at the Norwich Lecture.  An accompanying poster is now being finalised.

 

12. ARCHITECTURE IN SCHOOLS

Roy Payne reported that he has six architects lined up for this project.

 

13. ANY OTHER BUSINESS

Tony Cleary put forward the idea of having an Events Organiser.

 

14. DATE OF NEXT MEETING

The next meeting will be held on Monday 10th January 2005.
